Art Seen: the NorthPark Center Collection
NorthPark Center’s world-class art collection includes Ad Astra, 2005, by Mark di Suvero; Corridor Pin, Blue, 1999, by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen; and 20 elements, 2004-2005, by Joel Shapiro, major acquisitions by Nancy A. Nasher, President, NorthPark Development Company, and her husband David J. Haemisegger, President, NorthPark Management Company, owners of NorthPark Center.

The monumentally impressive Ad Astra, a 48-foot tall, 12-ton, orange steel sculpture takes center stage in NorthCourt, located between Nordstrom and Macy’s. The enormous, 21-foot-tall stainless steel and aluminum with polyurethane enamel sculpture, Corridor Pin, Blue, stands tall on the grounds of NorthPark’s CenterPark and is the only large-scale piece by the world-renowned artists currently on display in Dallas. 20 elements, a vividly painted sculpture with 20 wooden blocks of varying sizes joined together, calls NorthPark Center’s Nordstrom Court home.

CenterPark:
A Walk in the Park

Imagine a 1.4-acre oasis in the heart of a shopping center and you have a picture of NorthPark Center’s landscaped garden, CenterPark, an urban retreat providing a beautiful place to relax amid world-class sculpture, artful plantings, canopies of trees and green expanses of lawn. Designed around a series of lawns, this park doubles as a peaceful area for all to enjoy and an exciting venue for private and community events. CenterPark also features the enormous Corridor Pin, Blue, 1999, by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen.
This 21-foot-tall stainless steel and aluminum sculpture is a large-scale representation of a safety pin magnified to architectural scale. Children of all ages delight in the zigzag walking path formed by Japanese boxwood hedges and beds of yellow flag irises and daylilies that are set into a shady grove of live oaks.

With champagne flowing and DJs spinning the latest sounds, NorthPark Center’s signature event—Fashion at the Park—offers the public an exclusive experience usually reserved for celebrities and fashion insiders: an unprecedented opportunity to be among the first to view the newest fashion and hottest trends on the runway.
“A public fashion event of this magnitude further establishes NorthPark Center as the fashion epicenter of the Southwest,” said Nancy A. Nasher, President, NorthPark Development Company. “Fashion at the Park brings the energy of the international fashion scene from New York City, Milan, and Paris to Dallas, and showcases our incredible collection of exclusive luxury and trendsetting retailers.”

Each spring and fall, a 20,000-square-foot luxury tent complex features a full-scale, 200-foot runway surrounded by reserved seating. The central hub of the complex is a 60’ bar and 8’ tall DJ booth surrounded by fashion and accessory displays, plasma screens showing runway footage, interactive sponsor booths and lounge seating.

“For decades, NorthPark Center has been recognized throughout the Southwest as a leader in fashion,” said Phillip Jones, President/CEO of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau. “NorthPark’s recent expansion and consistent innovation are key components of the Bureau’s sales and media initiatives.
