Carter Blood Drive

Park Cities Rotary and Carter BloodCare will host a blood drive from 10am to 5pm. Registration takes place at Dillard's Court, and the mobile unit will be outside Dillard's and Maggiano's Little Italy in the south parking lot.

DallasKidsRead! at NorthPark Center

The public is invited to NorthPark Center from 1pm to 6pm to enjoy free activities at this children's literary festival. DallasKidsRead!, supported by AT&T, is designed to foster a love of literature and reading among our youngest citizens. First Lady of Dallas Laura Leppert serves as Honorary Chair for this event benefitting Rainbow Days, Inc.
On April 17th, the second day of the festival, more than 20 nationally-acclaimed authors and illustrators will read their books, host illustration workshops and provide autographs at NorthPark Center. Kids can enjoy celebrity storytelling, puppet shows, crafts, face painting and musical entertainment between Macy's and Nordstrom, near Bookmarks and in CenterPark (weather permitting). The DallasKIdsRead! Bookstore will offer books (written and illustrated by our guest authors and illustrators) for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from book sales will go directly to the event beneficiary, Rainbow Days, Inc. Favorite storybook characters will be on hand to provide great opportunities for photographs and more autographs!
For 28 years, Rainbow Days has been dedicated to providing children living in high risk situations with the skills and support they need to overcome adversity and stay drug-free. Since 1982, over 107,000 children have been served in the Dallas area and over 30,000 training participants have been trained throughout the U.S. in how to implement a support group or other prevention program with children in their community. Rainbow Days currently serves over 9,500 children and youth and over 300 parents at 80 different community-based sites, including local elementary schools, homeless shelters, transitional living centers, domestic violence centers, after-school programs and recreation centers in the four-county Dallas area.
